Berry Hosts Middle School Mathematics Competition

Sixth, seventh and eighth graders from north Georgia recently competed in the spring Berry College Mathematics Contest.  

Winners from the seventh and eighth grade competition were Heritage Middle School (Catoosa County) first place,  Rome Middle School second place and Jasper Middle School (Pickens County) third place. Individual winners were Erin Lin of Heritage, first place; Jace Clowdus, of Rome, second place and Clay Crawford of Pepperell, third place.   

Winners in the sixth grade competition were Heritage Middle School first place, followed by Armuchee Middle School in second and Pickens County Middle School in third. David Lane, of Armuchee, won first place; Parker Hayen, of Heritage, won second and Grant Beasley, of Jasper Middle School won third.  

Berry College hosts the competition to promote and encourage mathematical excellence. Several Berry students and mathematics faculty worked with the event and Martha Tapia, Associate Professor of Mathematics Education, is the faculty supervisor for the event.
