Berry College Arboretum Opening April 29

The public is invited to the opening of the  Berry College Arboretum on April 29, which will include a tree walk.

The project to create the arboretum was started in 2014 by a team of student research workers along with Berry biology faculty members - a fitting project for a setting already designated as a “Tree Campus USA.” Together they have collected records for more than 1,400 trees from some 100 species and named varieties. Among these trees are mountain longleaf pines generated from trees within Berry’s own old growth forests.

The program will begin at 4 p.m. in Krannert Center’s Ballroom E, followed by the tree walk at 4:30 p.m.

Join Biology Professor Martin Cipollini and  Arborist Chris Hughes on the walk throughout main academic and residential areas of campus as they welcome and celebrate the heritage of these trees.
