Berry Participates in Renaissance Choral Music Program

Dr. Paul Neal, Associate Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities, is currently contributing to an inventive project that has come about due to the pandemic.

Dr. Neal was contracted last year to participate as a clinician for a Seminar of Performance Practice of Renaissance Choral Music, co-sponsored by GIA Publications and the University of Mississippi. They were scheduled go to Oxford, MS to present their skills and expertise in singing and performing Renaissance choral music, specifically in preparation for a new book by the Renaissance choral scholar, Dr. Dennis Shrock. Because of COVID-19, the event was canceled but has now resurfaced as a virtual symposium to be presented this summer.

So, Dr. Neal is currently recording virtual submissions to be a part of a "virtual Renaissance vocal ensemble" which will be presented in both the symposium but also for future presentations and publications of performance practice of Renaissance choral music.
